Goals of the
Brough Family Organization (BFO)
Main Objective and Major Activities of the BFO
The main objective of the BFO is
to "educate the membership [of the BFO] and others of the history and family traditions within the genealogical lines of the membership." (See BFO Articles of Incorporation.) At the present
time the BFO is engaged in four major activities that support this
1) It is conducting genealogical research
on the ancestors of the Broughs of the British Isles and their related
families and genealogical lineages. Part of this effort is manifest through the sponsoring
of Brough Research Projects.
2) It is extracting and submitting the births,
christenings, marriages and deaths of Broughs known to have resided
in the British Isles before 1900 for entry into the computerized
database of Family Search of the Family History Library in Salt Lake City,
Utah. Part of this effort is manifest through the sponsoring of a Brough Extraction Project.
3) It is documenting the descendants of
Brough families of the British Isles who reside today throughout the world--especially
those living in the United Kingdom, United States, Canada and Australia
and New Zealand.
Part of this effort is manifest through the sponsoring of Brough Genealogical Databases, Brough Histories, Brough Monuments and Memorials and Brough Military Memorials.
4) It is maintaining contact with descendants of the Broughs of the British Isles who are interested in their family history and who live
in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada and New Zealand
and elsewhere around the world. Part of this effort is manifest through the holding of International Brough Reunions.
