Brough Extraction Project for
St. Peter, Stoke Upon Trent,
Staffordshire, England, 1837-1924

In 2010, the Brough Family Organization (BFO) established the Brough Extraction Project for Staffordshire, England, 1837-1924. This project is a continuation of family history work begun in 1890 by Samuel Richard Brough (1857-1947) while he was serving a four-year mission (1886-1890) to the British Isles for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This extensive extraction project began in 2010 and involves researching and documenting all of the births, marriages and deaths of "Brough" surnamed individuals of Staffordshire, England, who are mentioned in the online files of the British Government Record Office (GRO) and Staffordshire Record Office (SRO) between 1837 and 1924, and identifying their genealogies and family relationships which are then entered into the databases of the Brough Family Organization and FamilySearch. This extraction project uses SIRP methodologies and has already identified and connected a number of related Brough families in Staffordshire.
In 2013, the Thomas James Brough Family Organization elected to support the Brough Extraction Project for St. Peter, Stoke Upon Trent, Staffordshire, England, 1837-1924, which allows BFO researchers the opportunity to obtain the parish records of St. Peter, Stoke Upon Trent, Staffordshire, and extract all of the births, marriages and burials of "Brough-related" individuals for 1837 to 1924, so that their genealogies and family relationships can then be entered into the databases of the Brough Family Organization and FamilySearch. (Thomas James Brough was the oldest son of Samuel Richard Brough.) Other BFO members have also supported this extraction project and their contributions will be used to purchase the appropriate birth, marriage and death certificates from the British Government Record Office (GRO) or Staffordshire Record Office (SRO) for "Brough-related" individuals who are listed in the parish record of St. Peter, Stoke Upon Trent, Staffordshire.
In July 2014, all Brough-surnamed christenings, marriages and burials that took during 1837 to 1924 at St. Peter, Stoke Upon Trent, Staffordshire, were posted online by the BFO.

The two extraction projects mentioned above are largely supported by a legacy fund made possible by Samuel Richard Brough, and operate under the authorization and support of the following BFO members (listed in alphabetical order):

Ethel Mickelson Brough (b.1947)
John Marshall Brough (b.1939)
